Our Journey

Early Ministry

Immediately after Pastor Kenneth and First Lady McKay completed their ministerial

training with the Church of God in 1996, Pastor McKay received his first pastoral

assignment at the Power House Church of God in Bartow, Florida. It was there that God

honored their faithfulness and obedience.

Founding of DOCCF

For seven years, Pastor and Lady McKay served faithfully in Bartow. At the end of that

season, Pastor McKay discerned that his work there was complete. After much prayer

and fasting, the McKays were led to establish a church in the Riverview area.

The Holy Spirit placed on their hearts that this new church must be a true reflection of

God’s Word, with members who were genuine followers of Jesus Christ. In February

2004, the Holy Spirit revealed both the name and vision of the ministry: Disciples of

Christ Christian Fellowship (DOCCF) with the vision, “Making Disciples to Make a

Difference.”

First Services and Growth

On March 7, 2004, DOCCF held its very first service in the McKays’ home. Soon after,

The church moved to a location on Causeway Boulevard, where some of our earliest

senior members, including Deacon Mike Levy and the Walton family, joined the

fellowship. Later, the church relocated to Gibsonton Drive in Gibsonton, where it

experienced significant growth.

Our Logo

In March 2007, God gave DOCCF a logo that perfectly represents the church’s mission.

The logo illustrates disciples being added to the Body of Christ, standing firmly on the

Word of God. The cross symbolizes the price paid for the remission of sins, while the

rising sun represents the Son of God’s resurrection.

Milestones

In 2010, DOCCF purchased its land and celebrated paying it off in 2012. Construction of

the church building began in 2018, and in August 2019, the congregation joyfully moved

into its new home. In 2020, a prayer garden was established, and by 2022, plans were

submitted for a 6,000-square-foot picnic pavilion area to continue building spaces for fellowship

and community. In January 2024, we made our final loan payment for Phase 1!

The church is officially paid off.

Today and Beyond

Today, God continues to add to DOCCF. We are a Word-based, Holy Spirit-led church

with a passion for evangelism and a steadfast commitment to our mission: “Making

Disciples to Make a Difference.” We remain dedicated to our vision: to establish Christ-

centered churches where love abounds, God’s Word is supreme, and people of all

ethnicities are welcomed, saved, discipled, and equipped for ministry.
